Affirmations are a powerful tool that can help you attract what you want into your life. They can also be used to reframe negative thoughts and self-talk, helping to boost your confidence and self-esteem. But did you know that there's a way to make affirmations even more effective?

Read on to learn about how harnessing the power of the subconscious mind can help make your affirmations work faster than ever before!

1. Utilize the Magic 30 Minutes

The subconscious mind is naturally hyper-suggestible 30 minutes before and after sleep. This means that if you utilize this time correctly, you have direct communication to your subconscious mind making it easier for you to tap into your subconscious and send messages directly to it.

So if you want your affirmations to work faster, try repeating them out loud and writing them down during this so-called "magic 30 minutes". Not only will they be more effective, but they will also be easier for your subconscious mind to process and internalize.

2. Create a Visual Imagery That Correlates with Your Affirmation

Another way to make affirmations work faster is by creating a visual imagery clip, like a movie clip, that correlates with the affirmation. The image can be a short 2-3 second mental clip, but should be detailed and vivid, and should have emotion behind it (the emotion is key!)

By doing this, not only are you giving yourself an emotional boost but you're also imprinting this image into your subconscious mind - thereby giving it something tangible which it will strive towards achieving.

When you visualize an image associated with your affirmation, it creates a deeper connection in your brain and acts as a reminder of what you desire to manifest in life. The brain will want to work to make that image come true as it builds self-confidence and encourages positive behavior patterns.

For example, if your affirmation is “I'm confident in my ability to speak up” then create an image of yourself confidently speaking in front of a large crowd or in an important meeting at work. Visualize yourself delivering what you need to say with grace and poise – see it as if it has already happened!

3. Use Instructive Power Words

Affirmations are powerful tools to create positive changes in our lives. However, traditional "I am..." affirmations can take a lot of repetition before the subconscious mind takes notice.

We've all seen the lists of affirmations that read...

"I am confident"

"I am strong"

"I am powerful"

While these statements above are satisfactory, if you want your affirmations to be more effective, they should be in instructive form.

Instructive form (also known as imperative) is used to deliver an instruction, command, or request. Instructive form is one that gives instructions, commands, advice, or requests. It is used to tell people what to do, instructing what action to take.

When you write in the "I am..." tense, your brain takes it a declaration and moves on. Which again, is satisfactory, but will take a lot more repetition to convince your subconscious mind that it's true.

Instructive form of affirmations provides a different kind of encouragement to the subconscious mind. Instead of simply repeating a positive thought to yourself, you are actively giving yourself an instruction.

By using this alternative form, each affirmation serves as an instruction to your subconscious mind that encourages action-orientated behaviors so that you can achieve your desired outcome.

For example, when feeling unmotivated, rather than saying "I am confident" which is a traditional form of affirmation, try approaching with an instructive statement such as "Radiate confidence".

Can you feel that "radiate confidence" creates a pull to want to complete an action versus "I am confident" which comes across as just a fact?

By using this technique, you can tap into the reservoir of power within yourself to make positive changes in your life because the subconscious mind will start to take actions towards confidence rather than slowly build up the belief that you are confident.

How to test for instructive form:

  1. Imagine you are speaking to another person
  2. Repeat your affirmation aloud to them
  3. Do they know exactly what to do, because you have instructed them in the statement to do something? If not, you are not in instructive form.

Some instructive words to use are:

To make your affirmations more effective, using power words and an instructive form will provide a different kind of encouragement to the subconscious mind that encourages action-orientated activities so that you can achieve your desired outcome. By using power words and instructions, we can tap into the reservoir of power within ourselves to make positive changes in our lives.

Power words are impactful, persuasive words that help drive home an affirmation’s message more effectively than traditional affirmations. They evoke a mental image and create a more powerful and vivid picture in our mind of what we are trying to achieve. By using these words, affirmations become more precise and easier for the subconscious mind to absorb and act on.

Pro tip: Always direct your language toward the desired outcome and resist ANY mention of that which you DO NOT desire. Treat this the same that you would order food at a restaurant. You wouldn't tell the server what you do not wish to order from the menu, right?
